Letters to the Editor

"Corrosive Neglect?"

The Record chose not to include me in its campaign coverage for District 40
("On the ballot," Page L-3, Oct. 5). I'm the Green Party candidate for state
Assembly, and I'm on the ballot right up there with the Democrats and
Republicans.

Unfortunately (I guess), I'm an average Joe without a law degree and I don't
have thousands of dollars to spend, so The Record thinks I don't deserve
equal coverage. I'm not a "major candidate" by its standards. Well, The
Record can complain all year about the role of money in politics and the
corruption it brings, but it supports those oligarchs just the same.

I will participate in a League of Women Voters debate on Oct. 21 at 8:30
p.m. in the Wayne municipal building. All are welcome. I stand for public
funding of elections, corporate and wealth taxes for funding the schools,
clean car reform, and much more, reflected in legislation introduced by
Assemblyman Matt Ahearn, Green-Fair Lawn. Read all about it at
www.gpnj.org/passantino.
