Re:"Primary elections scheduled for today"(C-P June 3.)
The piece states that the New Jersey Assembly has one "Independent"
Assemblyman. The seat in question belongs to Matt Ahearn of District 38, who
is a member of the Green Party of New Jersey.
For future reference, the term "Independent" indicates no party
affiliation, which would be incorrect for Ahearn. On the official New Jersey
party declaration form, there are seven parties to choose from (including
Green) or you have the option of registering "Independent," which states on
the form that you "wish to disaffiliate with any political party."
It is my sincere hope that you note this since, in the upcoming fall
election, 31 Greens will be running for Assembly, eight for Senate and ten
in county races. These totals include Kevin Madden and I as Assembly
candidates in the sixth District and Mark Heacock for Woodlynn Borough
council.
