Choice for Clean Money Campaigns in New Jersey
Clean
Money Campaigns would be accomplished by avoiding patchwork solutions
continually under threat from constitutional challenges. Freedom of speech is
preserved by giving candidates choice in how they may conduct their campaigns
for public office.
Clean Money legislation as passed and adopted in Maine and Arizona allow candidates to have that choice. These campaigns raise small amounts of money from individuals while agreeing not to accept political action committee (PAC) or corporate cash or contributions from personal wealth. Matching funds from the state allow for their message to be read and heard by the voters at a reasonable level of spending.
The
current system demands favors in return for campaign donations whether expressed
directly or
through the very fact that a candidate receives money from a PAC
representing certain interests. These interests are known and their favor of
donation may not be offered again without the proper legislation submitted and
votes cast by their winning candidate.
Clean Money Campaigns will end unethical influence on legislation only with elected officials willing to make their voices heard. Our candidacy as Green Party contenders precludes our accepting any PAC or corporate money. Our guide for initiating legislation and casting votes will be decided upon our seeking a consensus of opinion from constituents, reflecting on the 10 Key Values and looking to our own personal conscience in matters when only extreme sides have taken stands with residents polarized.
We have
been told that one of the corporate parties has a saying “raise more, spend
more” to remain in
power. This practice for running campaigns will not
construct public policy for the people to enjoy being residents of the State of
New Jersey. A new path for elections must be taken with Clean Money Campaigns.
