RE: Civil Union spouses and tax forms
Dear Ms. Meg Jones,
Your recent letter is outrageous considering the conversation I had with
Allette Wooley, Conferee 2. During that conversation Ms. Wooley had
told me that the telephone conference could be conducted since we are
"both adults." But, now I get your letter which contradicts her
comments with some remarks that are simply not true.
In the first paragraph you use the word "protest" in place of the word
appeal. Why? Of course, this seems to set up the following remark.
You have written that "the conference meeting ... is intended to
conclude the administrative appeal process, not to commence the
process." Are you trying to stop my appeal process rights with this
declaration? Do you not realize that I have the right to appeal any
decision made by the Conference and Appeals Branch? And, yes, since the
Conference and Appeals Branch will probably rule against civil union
spouses and their right to be treated equally under the law, I will
appeal.
Please discuss this arbitrary decision on your part trying to stop the
appeal process with Ms. Wooley. I have left a message on her
answering machine concerning your letter.
